Spirit Sail a Journey of Discovery
When Nelson Price fell in love with a sailboat, he did not expect to be launched into a spiritual journey of discovery. But he soon recognized that sailing offers more than an opportunity to enjoy the open war. He discovered that when he stepped on his boat, Wind Dancer, the job and family stresses slipped off. He sailed for 12 years out of City Island in New York City, sailing “down east” to off-shore islands and Maine. and 28 years on Lake Ontario. Wind Dancer is a 34-foot Dufour, a heartily built boat in France. In addition, he sailed many times on friend’s boats among the islands in the Caribbean and down the Intra-Coastal Waterway. He helped friends move their boats from Florida and Annapolis, MD to New York.
In this personal memoir, you can realize a spiritual dimension in your experiences, whatever they may be: hiking, gardening, travel, reading, music, art, poetry and many others. We can live the “spiritual life.”
In Spirit Sail, you may discover:
- How the awe of a sunset with spectacular colors on every horizon feels like sailing down the chancel of a cathedral, like God touching your life.
- How the solitude of a starlit night can put you in touch with the gifts in your life.
- How simple hospitality with your crew can deepen relationships.
- How grief turns to celebration as a friend’s ashes move away from the boat and into the deep sea, reunited with a life force.
